Johnny Vegas, Saints & the St Helens Gala

A great day was had by all at the St Helens Gala on Sunday 27th August. Thanks to the Steve Prescott Foundation, Ruskin Leisure and Bartons Pickles. The event was a spectacular success, with throngs of people rekindling the super summer days of the St Helens Show, despite the indifferent weather.

The No: 7 Bottle Shop stall was superbly positioned to take advantage of great view of the bowling green, where many celebs and their members of the public partners did battle for the right to the Lol Pennington Trophy.  Our very own President Andy Reid MBE was in the mix for a short while at least, unfortunately going out in the first round.

Later in the afternoon we were visited by none other than Johnny Vegas, who has an ancestral connection to Cannington Shaw and spent a while talking this over with our expert, Grace Tabern.

Later we would enjoy the company of Saints legends James Roby and LMS for a great catch up.

A thoroughly enjoyable day, raising awareness of Cannington Shaw No: 7 Bottle Shop and raising some funds for the ‘Standing Tall Foundation’ by having a competition to win ‘Edwin Bear.’ Named after Edwin Cannington, he would eventually be won by young Eden, who was delighted with her new friend.
