Share Your Skills At Our Community Shed!
Are you a skilled joiner, carpenter, or DIY expert?
We need your help to launch a fantastic new community initiative in St Helens!
We’re opening a Community Shed at the iconic No. 7 Bottle Shop site at Cannington Shaw and are looking for practical, skilled tradespeople to volunteer for a few hours a week as one of our Skills Mentors.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Your primary role will be to teach hands-on joinery and DIY skills to local community members. Being involved in this project will be incredibly rewarding:
- Restoration: Helping participants use new skills to repair and repurpose elements of the historic No. 7 Bottle Shop building.
- Life Skills: Teaching DIY skills people can use to build confidence, tackle repairs at home and potentially boost their CVs for employment.
- Community Impact: Helping us tackle social isolation and provide a welcoming, active space where people can meet new people and learn new skills.
Why Volunteer with Us?
- Give Back: This is a perfect opportunity for either a retired tradesperson, or someone working part-time who wants to share their expertise and give back to the local St Helens community.
- Share Your Passion: We value experience over formal qualifications. You just need to be able to clearly demonstrate practical skills and a passion for teaching others.
What’s involved?
- The shed will be open every Friday, 10:00 am – 2:00 pm, starting in January.
- It’s an ongoing role, but even a commitment of a few months to help us establish the project would be invaluable.
This is a unique chance to create your legacy as part of a major local heritage restoration.
